Everyone has a favorite teacher; mine's my high school art teacher, Lauren Davis (hoping for some extra credit for that shout-out).  More than just teaching me to love art, she taught me how to see the world and how to appreciate what I saw.  I don't mean this in some deep philosophical way.  She taught me to see details and shapes and colors - to notice all of the little things that are usually overlooked.

This perspective extended outside of the art world and stuck with me beyond high school.  After a whirlwind ride through college and medical school, we had four years of relaxed bliss in Hawaii (Go Ugly).  Some time for reflection led to a residency, fellowship and then career in Radiology.  Wouldn't change a thing.

Loving my full-time radiologist "day job," I paint whenever I get the chance.  Each photograph of the paintings represents an hour or two of progress - usually late at night or early in the morning, whenever it fits into my schedule.  Boy do I enjoy it all - the process, the final result, daydreaming about what's next.  Hope you enjoy a quick glimpse into how I see this world around us.
